A one-day workshop on ‘Basic Life Support’ was organized by Maharishi Markandeshwar College of Nursing, M.M. University, Kumarhatti,




     Solan, 19 October 2019:   The Department of Maharishi Markandeshwar College of Nursing Kumarhatti, Solan organized a one day workshop on “Basic Life Support”. The programme started by lamp lighting ceremony and Saraswati Vandana, followed by welcome address by Dr.(Mrs.) Jasbir Kaur, Principal MMCON organizing chairperson of the workshop. Chief guest Dr. Prabhjot Saini, Professor, Mr. Ajay Singal, Registrar MMU Solan, Medical Superintendent Dr. Ram Krishan Sharma, Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Manpreet Singh Nanda, Nursing Superintendent Ms. Sunita Guerra Threfall (MMMC&H), Ms. Monika Sharma, Associate Professor and Ms. Shivani Kalra, Assistant Professor were present in inaugural session.

Dr. Vipin Saini, Vice Chancellor, Maharishi Markandeswar University, Solan and Principal, Maharishi Markandeshwar Medical College and Hospital appreciated the efforts of the faculty members of M.M. College of Nursing.
Chancellor of Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Shri Tarsem Garg and Secretary Mr. Sanjeev Garg ji appreciated the successful holding of one day workshop on “Basic Life Support” by faculty members and emphasized that such events are regularly held should be organized to increase the knowledge of students as well as faculty members.
Dr. Prabhjot Saini, Professor, DMC College of Nursing, Ludhiana, Punjabdelivered the inaugural speech.She highlighted the Critical concepts of High Quality CPR and steps of BLS, Responsiveness Activation of Emergency Response System & Assessment, Chest Compression, Airway & Breathing, Automated External Defibrilator (AED), Algorithm, and Hands on Skill.To impart in-depth knowledge and valuable training of life saving skills to the students.The interactive training session was elaborately conducted by experts.
The workshop culminated with vote of thanks by Ms. Varinder Kaur, Assistant Professor MMCON. Certificates were distributed among the delegates.The workshop was attended by a 35students, teachers and employees of the University of Kumarhatti Solan.

GUEST LECTURE BY MR.GERRY CARPANINI TO IMPROVE TRAUMA CARE SERVICES




LUDHIANA (H S KITTY)Mr. Gerry Carpanini from the South Western Ambulance Service in the UK.He delivered a lecture on teaching programme including resuscitation and improving its outcome to a packed auditorium of 300 + staff nurses and students which was very well received by all.This was a first visit of Mr.Gerry Carpanini after 10 year at the C.M.C & Hospital. Sister Gladis , Nursing Superintendent  welcomed the guest with bunch of flowers. Mr.Gerry said,During this visit,the focus has been to enhance care of Trauma,Cardiac and Ambulance services.Mr.Gerry Carpanini told about BLs (Basic life support)and Acls Advance Cardiac Life Support) and he taught us how to give effective C.P.R (Cardio Pulmonary Resasitation).Ratio of C.P.R, Cycle of C.P.R and how to improve Trauma and Ambulance Services in Ludhiana

INTERNATIONAL CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH CELEBRATED

LUDHIANA (HS KITTY) International Childhood Cancer awareness month was


celebrated on 26th September 2019 by Paediatric Surgery Deptt. & Paediatric Nursing Deptt. at Christian Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana, Punjab to create awareness about childhood Cancer. Dr. William Bhatti – Director/ Professor & H.O.D, Paediatric Surgery department unfolded the theme - “THERE IS MORE THAN ONE OUT THERE – BE BOLD GO GOLD”. Dr. Monika Sharma-Professor, Paediatric Medicine Deptt. enlighted the patients & their relatives regarding early signs & symptoms of Paediatric cancer and its management. On this occasion, a poster competition based on theme was organized by GNM 2nd year & BSc(N) 4th year students. The judges for the poster competition were Dr. Parvez David Haque-H.O.D, General Surgery Deptt. & Dr.Gurmeet Kaur- Unit Head Paediatric Medicine Deptt. The winners of poster competition were 1st Prize 
                Ms. Shimpy Rani (GNM 2nd year), 2nd PrizeMs. Nancy (GNM 2nd year), 3rd Prize – Ms. Seba Susan Varghese (BScN 4th year). Role Play was enacted  by BSc(N) 3rd year students to enhance the knowledge of the parents.. Mrs. Richa Justin Hans-Assistant Professor, Paediatric Nursing Deptt, College of Nursing proposed vote of thanks. The program activities were highly appreciated by Dr. William Bhatti and Dr. Reena Jairus-Professor & Principal, College of Nursing, CMC & Hospital, Ludhiana. The BSc(N) & MSc(N) students enthusiastically participated in the program.

Current trends in surgery: CME held by CMC in association with IMSA

The Department of General Surgery, Christian Medical College, Ludhiana  conducted a 1 day CME on “Current Trends in Surgery”



Dr. William Bhatti, Director, CMC while inaugurating the event, highlighted the role of Department of General Surgery, CMC & Hospital, Ludhiana in training residents based on protocols and increasing competency. Dr. Jeyaraj D. Pandian, Principal, CMC, welcomed the delegates. He added that this academic feast will integrate faculty of various medical colleges and top hospitals. Dr. Anil Luther, the Head of Surgery department, welcomed the chief guest Dr. Jagadeesan, president of IMSA and impressed on the delegates the achievements of the surgery department in CMC.


Dr. Jagadeesan, the chief guest of the CME and the Founder President, listed the achievements of the IMSA and also appreciated the success of the CME.
 Dr. Karamvir Goyal, Member, Punjab Medical Council informed that 2 credit hours are awarded by the Council.  The CME is supported by Punjab Medical Council and International Medical Sciences Academy (IMSA). Dr Amit Mahajan, Organizing Secretary and Professor of Surgery, gave the vote of thanks. The CME included sessions on surgical techniques, recent advancements in peri-operative and post-operative care, current scenario of surgeries in the Indian context, to name a few. The speakers included guest faculty from PGIMER, Chandigarh, Fortis Hospital Mohali, Max  Smart Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi. GMC Patiala, GMC Chandigarh and Medanta-the Medicity.

ਹੱਡੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਪੰਜ਼ਾਬ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਡਾ. ਧਿਰੇਨ ਬੱਸੀ ਤੇ ਰੀੜ ਦੀ ਹੱਡੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਹਿਰ ਡਾ. ਅਨੂਪਰੀਤ ਬੱਸੀ ਨੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ 180 ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਮਰੀਜ਼ਾ ਦੀ ਮੇਡੀਕਲ ਜਾਂਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ।ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਬੀ. ਅੇਮ. ਡੀ., ਕੈਲਸ਼ੀਅਮ ਅਤੇ ਯੂਰਿਕ ਐਸਿਡ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਵੀ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਫਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ।ਇਸ ਕੈਂਪ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਚ 'ਚ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਈ ਕਿ ਜਿਥੇ ਇਸ ਇਲਾਕੇ 'ਚ ਔਰਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੈਲਸ਼ੀਅਮ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਘਾਟ ਹੈ, ਉਥੇ ਹੱਡੀਆ ਦੇ ਮਾਹਿਰ ਡਾਕਟਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਘਾਟ ਹੈ,
