Poster competition on International Childhood Cancer Awareness month

Department of Paediatric surgery organized poster competition on childhood cancer awareness with department of Paediatric nursing on 15th September 2021. 46 nursing student made posters about childhood cancer awareness.  Dr. William Bhatti, Director, Professor and head, Dept. of Paediatric surgery addressed the gathering about common Paediatric cancers and need for awareness in community .He also emphasized on importance of early detection and treatment. He mentioned during his speech about the comphrensive care given by department of Paediatric Surgery from last 50 years.  Dr. Gurmeet Chaudhry, Head of Department and Professor, Dept. of Paediatric Medicine told that September is celebrated as international childhood cancer month. She also told that white spot in eye, lump in abdomen , unexplained fever, weight loss,  fatigue, easy bruising and bleeding are common signs of cancer in childhood. Unlike adult 80% childhood cancers are completely treatable if detected early. Dr. Parvez David Haque, HOD, Dept. of General surgery also attended the event and took the lead in the Lamp Lighting Ceremony. Dr. Reena Jairus, Principal, 


 College of nursing and Prof Mrs. Premlata, Head of Childcare Nursing as well as Mrs Jatinder Kaur from paediatric nursing,  Dr. Vishal Michael  and Dr. Tanvi Goel  from Department of Paediatric surgery also spoke at the event about the theme: Together we fight, We will be Better as also the importance of nursing in childhood cancers. 

Prof. Balqis Victor from the College of Nursing distributed prizes to the award winners for best posters. (hs kitty)
